Hello and welcome to La ola del lago, Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools' Spanish Immersion school.

My name is Richie Kucinski, and I have been the principal of La ola del lago Spanish Immersion School since our inception in 2014.  I could not ask for a more positive school district and passionate colleagues to work with. At La ola del lago, all stakeholders of our school community are deeply committed to creating meaningful learning experiences for our most important asset – our students!  After all, we are creating bilingual world changers!

I am fluent in Spanish and hold an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration along with my K-12 MN Administrative and Superintendent Licenses.  Prior to joining Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools, I taught Kindergarten, first, and fourth grade Spanish Immersion at Lakes International Language Academy in Forest Lake and Spring Lake Park. I also served in various leadership roles such as superintendent intern, dean of students, Spanish immersion coordinator, and curriculum lead.  My entire career in public education has been in the language immersion world!

My wife Erin and I are proud Prior Lake residents and have three children, Elisia, Amelia, and Ezra— all of whom are students of PLSAS. We are active members of the community and enjoy spending time at local parks (I love Cleary Lake!) and cheering on our children’s soccer teams. In my spare time, I enjoy cycling, running, rollerblading, camping, and participating in any outdoor activity.

At La ola del lago, we fundamentally believe language immersion education opens a window to our global world. Our diverse community supports the whole child in a safe, nurturing and academically rich environment. At La ola del lago, students will reach their full potential through their unique learning styles. Our overarching goal is that all students, families, employees, and community members – everyone who walks through our doors – feel an overwhelming sense of belonging.

I encourage you to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to stay up to date with the latest news, announcements and educational resources, as well as a glimpse of our phenomenal staff and students.

If there is anything I can help you out with over the course of the school year, or if you have any questions about second language acquisition or Spanish immersion curricula, I am always happy to hear from you.

Thank you for your continued support; we look forward to your next visit to La ola del lago!
